
A Biographical Sketch of
REV. BRENDAN A. JENKINS
Rev. Brendan A. Jenkins is a servant of our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ, he is the second of three sons of Georgia and Jimmy
Jenkins. Born on a marine base in Camp La Jeune, N.C.; he grew
up in Houston, TX. His father taught Rev. Jenkins the importance
of hard work and self-discipline. His mother instilled in him the
importance of showing love to others and giving of self unselfishly.
An ordained Baptist preacher baptized Rev. Jenkins at the age of
nine. He was brought up in the church and trained in the teaching
of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Rev. Jenkins grew up in a
middle class African American family where Christian beliefs and
practices were firmly indoctrinated. Rev. Jenkins felt the Lord
pulling on his heart to preach the gospel at the young age of
fourteen, but prayed and resisted the call wanting instead to be a
civil rights lawyer.
Rev. Jenkins received his B.S. degree in Sociology/ English from
the University of Houston in 1994, followed by a year long study of
law at the Thurgood Marshall Law School. Rev. Jenkins was
guided by the Holy Spirit to make his residence in Atlanta, GA, in
July of 1998 and Antioch Baptist Church North his church home. Upon arriving in Atlanta,
Georgia in June 1998, Rev. Jenkins submitted to the will of the Lord after an encounter with God
wherein he was told “everything you do will fail until you submit to my will for your life, for
which he responded Lord do with my life what you will, show me the way Lord, show me the
way”. He has been blessed to be licensed, ordained and trained by the Rev. Dr. Cameron
Alexander, Pastor of the Antioch Baptist Church North of Atlanta Ga. As he reflects upon his
studies in seminary and the teachings of Dr. Alexander, he is confirmed daily in his effort to
pursue and fulfill God’s divine ministry for his life.
Rev. Jenkins is a proven leader, entrepreneur and business owner in 1999, after his employer
closed their Georgia office, he organized and began Legal Plus Investigative Services: a full
service information and investigative research firm, which continues to serve the business and
private consumer community today.
Rev. Jenkins fulfilled the requirements and received the Masters of Divinity degree from
Morehouse School of Religion (I.T.C.) on May 10th, 2003. He is the 2003 recipient of the
Morehouse School of Religion, Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Award and the Newcomb
Endowment Award. Rev. Jenkins is married to the lovely Dr. Jelyne Martin Jenkins of Elberton, Ga
and the proud father of Shelby and Darby Jenkins. On the 2nd Sunday in March 2010 the Lord
enlarged his coast and called Rev. Jenkins to Pastor the historic Old Friendship MBC of Marietta,
Ga where he served faithfully until February of 2015.
The Bible declares if though will be faithful over a few things God will maker you ruler over
much more. On the 2nd Sunday in March 2015 The Lord called Rev. Jenkins to serve as Pastor
& Under-Shepherd of one of his best churches the Rocky Ford "the Rock" Baptist Church of
Dallas, Ga. Rev. Jenkins serves as the President of the Congress of Christian Education for the
Kennesaw Missionary Baptist Association, and is the zone 4 Vice President for the 7th District
General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia.
As a visionary leader with a passion for the youth and the least of these, Rev. Jenkins merged
his investigative skill community outreach and accepted a position with the Governors Office
of the Child Advocate for the Protection of Children, as a Compliance Investigator in June of
2012. He is committed to protecting and serving the children of our state.
Rev. Jenkins approach to ministry is centered on Luke 4:18-21, wherein Jesus proclaims his
mission and purpose in his hometown of Nazareth. He believes that God has a mission and
purpose for each one of us and it is our responsibility to accept Jesus Christ as our personal
Lord and Savior and take up our cross and follow him. The characteristics that best describe
Rev. Jenkins is that he has a sincere love for people and has been blessed by God with
intellectual and spiritual discernment, personal intestinal fortitude and wherewithal to fulfill
God’s plan and purpose for his life and the sincere desire to inspire others to maximize their
gifts.
He is our visionary leader, walking by faith, not by sight!
